Andover, CT : Two drivers injured after their vehicles collided on Route 6 at the Andover and Columbia town line on Friday morning, April 22, 2016
Two drivers were taken to the hospital, one by Life Star helicopter, Friday morning after their vehicles collided on Route 6 at the Andover and Columbia town line, state police said.
Police said Ciaran Wilcox, 45, of Brooklyn, Connecticut, was westbound on Route 6 around 7:40 a.m. when her Volvo collided with an eastbound Nissan driven by Manuel Tavalera-Lopez, 31, of Willimantic.
Police said Tavalera-Lopez’s car struck Wilcox’s “in the westbound lane in a near head-on collision.”
The crash occurred near Parker Bridge Road.
Two paramedic units responded to the scene at 7:50 a.m., said David Skoczulek, of Ambulance Service of Manchester, as did Andover Fire Department ambulances.
Tavalera-Lopez was taken by Andover ambulance to a Life Star landing zone at Route 6 and Lake Road and flown to Hartford Hospital.
Andover ambulances took Wilcox to Windham Community Memorial Hospital, Skoczulek said.
Neither driver had life-threatening injuries, state police said. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by wreckers.
Police said Tavalera-Lopez was issued two traffic tickets by police, one for restricted use of left-hand lane on a divided limited access highway, and the other for operating a vehicle without a license.
