LADSON, SC : Motorcyclist identified in crash with mini-van in Ladson on Saturday, March 18th 2017
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred in the Ladson area early Saturday morning.
Michael Austin Moody, 20, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office.
Moody was the helmeted operator of a motorcycle that was involved in a traffic accident at Ladson Road and College Park Road, they say.
The accident took place at the intersection of Ladson Road and College Park Road.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., Charleston County Sheriffs’ Office deputies responded to a collision involving a minivan and a motorcycle.
According to initial reports, the driver of the minivan was turning left from Ladson onto College Park Road when it collided with a motorcycle that was traveling at a high rate of speed, deputies say.
Moody's cause of death is related to the injuries he sustained in the accident, they say.
The driver of the minivan was transported to Trident Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Detours were constructed around the area to divert traffic away from the intersection.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
