Toledo, OH : Woman airlifted to Toledo after two-car crash Saturday afternoon on September 27, 2014
A 21-year-old New London woman was flown by medical helicopter to the University of Toledo Medical Center Saturday afternoon.
Jorge Hernandez, 46, 100 block Jefferson St., Norwalk, told Erie County Sheriff's deputies he was driving his 1995 Ford Ranger pickup in the left southbound lane of U.S. 250 near Mason Road when Lauren Lilly, driving a four-door 2002 Honda LX, pulled out in front of him from a business lot, deputy Matthew McPeek said.
Hernandez told deputies he was driving about 45 mph when she pulled out, McPeek said.
That is within the speed limit in that area, deputies said.
McPeek's pickup hit Lilly's car on the drivers side, caving in the door. First responders had to cut Lilly out of the vehicle.
She was treated at the scene by North Coast EMS personnel until the helicopter arrived and she was transported to Toledo.
She was in critical condition in the intensive care unit, Saturday evening, Chief Deputy Jared Oliver said.
Hernandez sustained injuries to his left arm and was treated and released from Fisher Titus Medical Center.
Deputies were unable to talk to Lilly while paramedics treated her injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
Hernandez was cited for not having a driver's license.
