RALEIGH, NC : 2 suffer serious injuries in crash involving 2 cars, tractor-trailer on Capital Boulevard on Monday, November 28th 2016
A crash involving several vehicles and a tractor-trailer shut down northbound Capital Boulevard for two hours on Monday evening. The wreck, which happened around 6:20 p.m., injured two people, Raleigh police said.
Capital Boulevard heading north was closed near Starmount Drive.
What appeared to be a crashed Ford Mustang could be seen under a tractor-trailer. Two cars were involved, according to a crash report from police.
According to the police report, a car driven by H Cen Siu Rcom, 19, of Raleigh, made a right turn out of the Starmount Shopping Center onto the 3300 block of Capital Boulevard without yielding to a car heading northbound on Capital Boulevard. That car was being driven by Thomas Matthew Kincaid, 54, of Wake Forest.
Rcom sideswiped Kincaid’s Ford, which caused his vehicle to slide under the rear axle of a tractor-trailer driven by Robert Warren Young, 70, of Martin Creek, Michigan.
The tractor-trailer dragged the Ford approximately 340 feet before coming to a stop, the police report showed.
After hitting Kincaid’s vehicle, Rcom then ran off the road to the right before coming to a rest.
According to the police report, Kincaid was pinned in his vehicle and had to be extricated. Rcom was also trapped in her vehicle.
The tractor-trailer driver told a CBS North Carolina photographer that when the crash happened, he heard a noise and at first thought his vehicle had blown a tire.
Injuries from the crash were serious, but are believed to be non-life threatening, police said.
The road reopened around 8:30 p.m.
No charges have been filed at this time.
