STATEN ISLAND, NY : Armed teen carjacks vehicle in Dongan Hills, chase ends in N.J. crash on Thursday, 18th February 2021

A carjacking Thursday in Dongan Hills ended with the arrest of a teenage suspect in Newark, after the victim and multiple law enforcement agencies gave chase.

It was about 12:15 a.m. when the armed, male suspect jumped into a 2016 white Range Rover on Richmond Road, near Burgher Avenue, an NYPD spokesman said Thursday.

The teen allegedly displayed a firearm to the vehicle’s owner before fleeing toward the Staten Island Expressway, officials said.

The car owner and another male — ages 31 and 48 — pursued the suspect in a different vehicle, police said.
