MONTAGUE, MA : 21-year-old woman dies in 3-car crash on Friday, February 24th 2017
A three-car accident on Turners Falls Road Friday night resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Montague woman.
Amanda Lilly was the victim of the crash, according to Northwestern District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Mary Carey.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene shortly before 9:45 p.m. Numerous Montague and Massachusetts State Police cruisers, ambulances and fire engines from the Turners Falls Fire Department could be seen from near Hatchery Road to near the Millers Falls Rod & Gun Club.
According to Carey, two vehicles collided head on, and a third vehicle subsequently collided with one of them.
Lilly was the only occupant of the vehicle she was driving, according to Carey.
The driver of a second vehicle and a passenger were transported to Baystate Hospital in Springfield and Baystate Franklin Medical Center, respectively, Carey stated. Their names and information on their conditions were not available. The driver of the third vehicle and three occupants were transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center for evaluation and minor injuries.Glass and debris from the vehicles covered much of the road near the crash. One vehicle, a maroon Chevrolet Silverado pickup, could be seen in a nearby field and the airbags had deployed. The other vehicles appeared to be an SUV and a passenger car.
The crash caused traffic to be shut down from Hillside Road to Hatchery Road for several hours.
Massachusetts State Police Lt. Tom Ryan said the Montague Police Department is the primary investigator, but state police are providing assistance through the Shelburne Falls barracks, Crime Scene Services Section, troopers assigned to the Northwestern district attorney’s office and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
The Montague Police Department is referring all inquiries to the District Attorney’s Office. According to Carey, the crash remains under investigation.
