Pottstown,PA : Pottstown man fatally injured in work site accident in Mass.on May, Tuesday 1st 2018
A Pottstown man has died after a worksite accident in Danvers, Mass.
A 42-year-old man identified by authorities as Anthony Lyon died Tuesday after sustaining injuries on the job, according to the Boston Herald.
The Boston Herald said the man was a subcontractor working at ITW Devcon, an adhesives manufacturer on Endicott Street in Danvers, Mass., according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokeswoman for the Essex District Attorney’s Office.
He was there fixing a piece of equipment shortly after 8:30 a.m. when “part of the equipment fell on him, causing catastrophic injuries,” Kimball-Monahan said.
Federal authorities with OSHA were investigating, Kimball-Monahan said.
Danvers Deputy Fire Chief Robert Amerault said while the man was trying to repair the equipment, the equipment failed, injured him and caused him to fall about 10 feet to the ground.
“He was up on a ladder ... and he injured himself and then fell,” Amerault said.
Amerault added that although the worker sustained traumatic injuries, he was conscious and talking to firefighters when he was placed in an ambulance to be transported to a helicopter that would fly him to Boston for treatment.
But Lyon went into cardiac arrest in the ambulance, Amerault said.
The worker was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital, authorities said.
Kimball-Monahan said the subcontractor was employed with Tougher Sheet and Steel, LLC, in Allentown.
No one from that company could be reached for comment, according to the newspaper report.
Representatives with ITW Devcon and its parent company, ITW Polymers Adhesive North America, could also not be reached for comment.
