1 dead, 2 injured in overnight crash in Seattle Washington
An overnight accident on Interstate 5 left one woman dead and two others injure.The incident occurred on the on-ramp to I-5 from Interstate 90 at approximately 1:39 a.m.State troopers said a Lexus RX300 headed the wrong way in the northbound lanes struck an oncoming Toyota Tundra just south of James Street.
The passenger of the Lexus was ejected from the car, and pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol identified the victim as Valerie Renae Cartillar, 34, of Seattle.Emergency crews had to extricate the driver of the Lexus whose legs were pinned by the mangled mess. The 39-year-old Covington woman and the Toyota driver were both taken to Harborview Medical Center.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, but investigators believe alcohol played a role."We absolutely do have some indications that alcohol was a factor," said Trooper Julie Startup. "We are pursuing that investigation, following up at the hospital and will be following up on any potential criminal problems this morning."The ramp was shut down for more than two hours following the crash.
