Brownsville, TX : Alvin woman dies in motorcycle collision in Lake Jackson on Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2017
A 39-year-old Alvin woman died Sunday afternoon after her motorcycle struck an SUV near Highway 288 and This Way, authorities said.
Chantel St. Clair White was pronounced dead shortly after an ambulance took her to CHI St. Luke's Health-Brazosport, Lt. Bryan Sidebottom said.
White was speeding when she exited the highway and crossed a couple lanes, Sidebottom said.
"She lost control and struck another vehicle," he said.
White's 2000 Harley Davidson collided with a Chevrolet Equinox. Both the driver and passenger in the vehicle weren't hurt and the vehicle had minor damage from the impact, Sidebottom said.
Police were called to the scene at about 12:27 p.m. and closed the frontage road along Highway 288 at 12:33 p.m. The roadway was reopened at 2:49 p.m., he said.
White's body was taken to the Galveston Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy, Sidebottom said.
Police said they don't believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
