Akron ,OH : Two Akron police officers injured and Driver charged with OVI after he allegedly crashed into a police cruiser on Thursday ,June 4th 2015

Police charged an Akron man with OVI after he allegedly crashed into a police cruiser, injuring two officers, early Thursday.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of West Market Street and Rhodes Avenue.

Two officers were able to get out of their cruiser but a passenger in the other car, a Chevrolet Camaro, had to be extricated by emergency crews.

Akron Fire Department told newsnet5.com that both officers as well as three people in the other car were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both officers were treated and released from the hospital. The Akron Police Department did not released their identities.
