SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS, AR : ASP trooper injured in crash on Highway 71 on Thursday, 3rd January 2019
An Arkansas State Police Trooper is recovering following a crash that sent them to an ArkLaTex hospital.
It happened just before 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in Wilton, Arkansas on Highway 71. That’s five miles north of Ashdown, in Little River County.
Cpl. Clayton McWilliams, 32, of Little River County was en route to another crash involving a logging truck, when the trooper left the roadway, hitting a tree.
The trooper was rushed to a Texarkana hospital for treatment, and later moved to a Little Rock hospital where is injuries are being assessed, according to a news release..
Heavy rainfall in the area is believed to contributed to the cause of the crash.
