Ellisburg, NY : Rochester woman killed, man hurt when their motorcycles collide with van on central NY road on Sunday morning, Aug 9, 2015

State police say a 47-year-old Rochester woman has died after her motorcycle collided with a van on a central New York road.

Troopers say Bonnie Petrotta and 38-year-old Mark Northup, also of Rochester, were riding their motorcycles late Sunday morning in Jefferson County when they approached the entrance to Southwick Beach State Park in the town of Ellisburg, on Lake Ontario's eastern end 50 miles north of Syracuse.

Police say an 18-year-old Syracuse-area man driving the van pulled into the intersection and into the path of the motorcycles. Petrotta's motorcycle hit the van and she was ejected from her bike. Northrup's bike glanced off the van.

Petrotta was taken to the hospital in nearby Watertown, where she was pronounced dead. Northrup was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The teen was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
