Erie County , OH : 52 - Years old Cary E. Politoski injured and Five Jeep Wranglers destroyed after Fiery crash on Wednesday morning ,April 22 2015
The Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway patrol investigated an injury crash on Wednesday, April 22 at approximately 11:54 a.m. The crash occurred near mile post 136 on the eastbound side of the Ohio Turnpike, blocking all lanes for nearly three hours. Ohio Turnpike Maintenance routed eastbound traffic off the Turnpike at US 250 in Erie County.
Investigation at the scene of the crash determined a 2013 Ford F-250 pulling a trailer failed to stop with an assured clear distance and struck the rear of a 2015 Peterbilt semi pulling a car hauling trailer. Shortly after impact, the Ford truck caught fire and also destroyed five Jeep Wranglers being transported by the Peterbilt.
Cary E. Politoski, age 52 of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, was able to free himself from the Ford truck before it was engulfed by fire. He suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Hospital in Amherst by Lifecare EMS.
Terrence C. Wright, age 53 of Fredericksburg, Virginia, who was driving the Peterbilt, was not injured in this traffic crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene of this crash by Ohio Turnpike Maintenance, South Amherst Fire, Lifecare EMS, and Interstate Towing.
