PAYNE COUNTY, OK : Fog-related crash sends prisoner transport bus off the road in Payne County on Wednesday, 25th September 2024
A crash on State Highway 33 near Perkins sent a prisoner transport bus into a ravine Wednesday morning.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said dense fog caused traffic issues across the state.
Troopers said a driver of a pickup couldn't see the approaching bus though the fog and struck the bus, sending it off the roadway into a ravine.
Of the 37 inmates on board, 10 were taken to hospitals and 27 returned to the prison in Cushing. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
