Hazleton, PA : Driver hospitalized after crashing into tree on Sunday, 2nd October 2016

A man ended up being taken to a hospital for unknown injuries after he crashed his car into a tree along East Broad Street around 9 p.m. Sunday and then walked away from the scene.

Hazleton Fire Department Deputy Chief Shawn Jones said it appeared the driver lost control of the vehicle, which spun around and slammed backward into a tree. The tree ripped into the car’s trunk, leaving the vehicle with severe rear-end damage.

The tree fared much better. It showed little damage following the crash, Jones said.

The driver wasn’t with his car when emergency responders arrived, Jones said. But he was later found in the area of the crash, and transported to the hospital by American Patient Transport Systems Inc.

Hazleton police are investigating the crash. No other details were released by press time Monday.
