Tucson, AZ : One woman dead after midtown collision Saturday night on Saturday, 29th October 2016
One woman is dead after being involved in a vehicle collision on North Swan Road, Saturday night.
Gisela Puerta, 19, was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla northbound in the median lane on Swan, north of East Glenn Street when her vehicle was struck head on by a 2004 Toyota Camry that had crossed over into the lane, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.
Puerta was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
The two passengers in the Corolla, an adult male in the front passenger seat and an adult female in the rear passenger seat, survived.
The male was not injured and the female passenger was transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
The driver of the Camry also was transported to Banner with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers at the scene noticed signs and symptoms of intoxication from the driver of the Camry, the release said.
An investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, according to the release.
