Ellsworth, ME : Four injured in Waltham crash early Monday morning, April 18, 2016

Four occupants were injured early Monday morning when the vehicle they were traveling in went off the road and hit multiple trees.

Police said 55-year-old Dale Newell I of Princeton was headed north on Route 179 in Waltham around 4:30 a.m. when he came to a sharp turn near Jones Eddy Road.

The blue 2006 Ford Explorer was going too fast, police said, and it crossed the centerline and went off the road.

The SUV “sideswiped several trees on the driver’s side and then collided with a tree on the right front fender.”

Newell was taken to the hospital by ambulance for a complaint of pain and a possible broken arm, police said.

Passenger Dale Newell II complained of knee and shoulder pain and was also taken to the hospital.

Another passenger, Sarah Sabattus, was taken to the hospital with a complaint of neck pain. Walter Tomah, a third passenger, complained of tension and went to the hospital in the ambulance with Sabattus.
