Baton Rouge, LA : Woman killed in a four-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on I-10 on August 11th 2015
A woman was killed in a four-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on I-10 Eastbound in Iberville Parish.
The crash happened at about 7:00 a.m. and took the life of 33-year-old Tracy Franques.
Louisiana State Police says that the crash happened as traffic was stopped on I-10 Eastbound, west of Ramah. As a truck was approaching traffic on I-10, the driver swerved to the left in order to avoid hitting the car in front of him. This caused the driver to hit Franques’ Ford Focus, which pushed it forward, striking two cars in front of Franques.
Franques was wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash due to her injuries. The driver of the truck, as well as a driver of the car Franques was pushed into were treated for minor injuries.
Franques was the founder and creator of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Support Facebook page. The group’s has nearly 9,000 likes, and representatives say that she was instrumental in fundraising efforts for injured officers as well as families who were left behind as a result of deaths in the line of duty.
