NORTH ADAMS, MA : 3 hurt in North Adams crash on Tuesday, 16th October 2018

Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment Tuesday morning after a two-car collision on State Road.

At about 9:30 a.m., a 2005 Chevrolet van driven by Charles Poulton appears to have crossed into the westbound lane of State Road near Airport Road and struck a 2015 Buick Sedan operated by George Haddad nearly head on, according to the preliminary investigation conducted by North Adams Police.

Haddad's passenger, Adelard Lisee, of Adams, was trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extricated by the North Adams Fire Department and Northern Berkshire EMS, according to North Adams Police Lt. Jason Wood.

Lisee and Haddad's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. They were transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield for treatment.

Poulton, of Adams, was transported to Berkshire Medical Center's North Adams Campus. His injuries were also not life-threatening.

The accident remains under investigation, but police believe Poulton entered the westbound lane to navigate around a garbage truck that was turning into a nearby driveway. He could face charges, Wood said.
