SALEM, OR : Driver of stolen car crashes into patrol car, tries to flee on foot in Salem on Monday, December 19th 2016
A man was taken into custody by Marion County deputies early Monday after he allegedly stole a vehicle, crashed into a patrol car and attempted to flee on foot.
The crash happened at Devonshire Avenue Northeast and Fisher Road just after midnight.
Marion County deputies said they spotted a stolen car just from the Mega Foods parking lot on Devonshire Avenue.
Deputies attempted to stop the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Jeremy Johnson.
Johnson allegedly sped away from deputies and drove through a stop sign before crashing into a patrol car that was in the area on an unrelated call.
Deputies said Johnson fled on foot, but was later tracked down by a K-9 officer.
Two juveniles were left inside the stolen car. They were not hurt in the crash and have not been charged.
Johnson faces multiple charges including unlawful use of a vehicle and reckless endangerment.
