Gaston County, N.C : Man injured after being hit by car in Gaston County on Tuesday morning, April 14, 2015

Police said a man was in critical condition after he was hit by a car in Gaston County early Tuesday morning.

The collision happened on Long Avenue around 3:15 a.m. in front of the QuikTrip gas station.

Police said 20-year-old Sandra Villafuerte was driving a Toyota Camry when she hit 50-year-old Mark Featherston.

Officers told Channel 9 Featherston walked out into the road.

Featherston was taken to CaroMont Medical Center and was then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with life-threatening injuries.

Long Avenue was blocked for nearly two hours while police investigated.

Police said Villafuerte will not be charged in the collision.
