Charleroi, PA : Man who stopped on interstate killed by truck on a western Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 16, 2016
Authorities say an Ohio man who stopped and got out of his car on a western Pennsylvania interstate was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer.
The Washington County coroner’s office said 19-year-old Osman Mohammad Bakali of West Chest Township, Ohio was in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between mile markers 35 and 36.
Officials said he thought he struck something at about 9 a.m. Saturday, so he pulled his sedan over to the side of the road to check for damage. But as he was walking around his vehicle, he was hit by a westbound tractor-trailer.
Bakali was pronounced dead about an hour later. The coroner’s office said he died of multiple blunt-force trauma. A ruling on the manner of death is pending. State police are investigating the accident.
