ROCKFORD, IL : 3 people cut from 2 SUVs after late-night Rockford crash, 2 in critical condition on Thursday, 5th September 2019

Two Rockford men were killed and a third person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night at the intersection of Auburn Street and Springfield Avenue.

One of the vehicles involved was being pursued by sheriff’s deputies, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department said.

The crash happened around 10:45 p.m., and Rockford Fire Department had to cut three adults from the SUVs.

A 50-year-old man was pronounced dead Thursday night and a 36-year-old man died early Friday at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital and Physician Clinic — Rockton Avenue, according to Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz.

Neither man’s name has been released pending family notification.
