Coeur d'Alene, ID : A Coeur d’Alene man died in a collision on Wednesday, January, 24th 2018

A Coeur d’Alene man died in a collision Wednesday on U.S. 95 at milepost 424.8 near Mica Grade.

The Idaho State Police report Michael D. Pitts, 58, of Coeur d’Alene, was driving northbound in a blue 1989 Toyota pickup. Pitts failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, crossed left of center and struck head-on a southbound gray 2016 Ford F350 pickup driven by Floyd K. Morris, 52, of Post Falls.

Morris continued southbound, going off the right shoulder and down an embankment. The vehicle rolled, coming to rest on its top.

Pitts’ vehicle rolled onto its top, coming to rest on the passenger side on the shoulder of the roadway.

Pitts was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was wearing his seat belt. Morris and his passenger, Matthew T. Little, 40, of Harrison, were treated and released at the scene.
