OKLAHOMA CITY, OK : One person died and another was taken to a local hospital after a crash on Monday, October, 16th 2017

One person died and another was taken to a local hospital Monday after a crash on Interstate 40 in west Oklahoma City.

Three vehicles were traveling on I-40 near Mustang Road when the drivers slowed down because of a crash in front of them, Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said. A fourth vehicle did not slow down, slammed into other vehicles and caused a chain reaction.

One person was killed in the crash. A second has been taken to the hospital.

Information about the two victims has not been released.

The right lane of eastbound I-40 has been closed because of the crash.

Authorities have not said when the lane will reopen, but crews estimated the closure would extend several hours into the evening, officials said.
