Whitman, MA : Woman killed, 4 injured in wheelchair transport van crash on Auburn Street on Thursday, June 9, 2016

A woman was killed and four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a wheelchair transport van in Whitman.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz's office says the woman was killed just before 4 p.m. Thursday. She was identified Friday as 61-year-old Francine Laterza, of Plymouth.

Authorities say Laterza was a passenger in a sedan that collided with a van on Auburn Street. She was taken to Brockton Hospital where she later died.

The driver of the sedan was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries. The driver and two occupants of the van were taken to Brockton Hospital with minor injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the car was travelling east, crossed the center line and struck the westbound wheelchair transport van.
