Marietta, GA : Cobb Parkway wreck leaves a Kennesaw woman dead on Sunday, December 4th, 2016
Cobb police are investigation a Sunday afternoon wreck on Cobb Parkway that killed a 79-year-old Kennesaw woman.
Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said a silver 1999 Ford Taurus was traveling north on Cobb Parkway in the left lane within Kennesaw city limits when a blue 2002 Buick Park Avenue was stopped on Keene Street — a cross street — at Cobb Parkway at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Pierce said the Buick entered into the Ford’s path, and the Ford struck the Buick’s driver’s side door.
As a result of the collision, the Ford came to a stop on the concrete median in the southbound turn lane, and the Buick traveled further north and came to an uncontrolled stop in the center median against the metal guardrail, Pierce said.Peggy Patterson, 79, of Kennesaw, has been identified as the driver of the Buick, Pierce said. She was transported by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Tatyana Mays, 22, of Kennesaw was the driver of the Ford, and she was also transported to Kennestone Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Pierce said no charges are expected to be filed.
