Detroit ,MI: One man killed, another injured in crash following chase with Detroit police on Thursday afternoon ,July 2nd 2015

One person has been killed and another injured in a crash that happened after Detroit police called off a chase.

The situation began with a traffic stop at 1:20 p.m. at Manor and Foley. Police had pulled over an Ford Explorer that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

During the stop, the officers approached the car. Inside they saw three men, along with gun boxes and bullets.

The SUV then took off and the officers gave chase. However, the chase was called off after just a few blocks, because it was too dangerous to continue the pursuit.

Minutes later, the officer were flagged down by a resident who told them the SUV had just hit a house. The crash happened near Buena Vista and Wyoming on Detroit's west side.

When police arrived on scene, they found one of the injured suspect trying to help another of the men, who was also injured, out of the car.

They were taken into custody. The injured men was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The third man had been killed in the crash.

Police searched the car and found two guns.

Police are not identifying the suspects. However, officers say the driver was on a tether and had just been released from prison.
