Swanton ,VT : Vehicle’s passenger killed after single-car crash caused by speed and alcohol on Sunday ,May 10th 2015
Police in northern Vermont say speed and alcohol were factors in a single-car crash that killed the vehicle’s passenger.
In a media release, Swanton Police Chief Leonard Stell said just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, his department responded to Maquam Shore Road for a report of a crash.
According to the police investigation, an eastbound 2006 Ford Taurus, reportedly driven by Douglas Colby, 54, of Swanton, lost control after passing a flatbed. The car went off the road, struck several trees before coming to a stop back on the roadway.
Linda Vincelette, 56, of Swanton, sustained fatal injuries after she was partially ejected from the car. She was not wearing her seatbelt.
Colby was not injured and denied driving the vehicle at the time of crash. He was processed for a suspected DUI and charged with DUI with death resulting and careless and negligent operation.
