CHELMSFORD, MA : 1 dead, 1 injured in I-495 crash on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016

One person died and another was seriously injured in a Saturday morning two-car crash on Interstate 495 North, according to state police.
The head-on collision occurred about 6:40 a.m. just south of Exit 33 in Chelmsford. Peliminary investigation shows a 2000 Ford Focus was traveling southbound on the highway when it left the roadway, crossed the median and struck a 2017 Toyota Camry traveling northbound, according to a statement from state police.
The driver of the Ford Focus was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Camry was transported to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington. The identities of the drivers have not been released.
Why the Ford Focus crossed the median and other circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by state troopers from the Concord barracks. State police from the Troop A Headquarters, Andover barracks, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section assisted at the scene along with the Chelmsford Fire Department and EMS, Westford Police Department and the state Department of Transportation.
