Memphis, TN : One person died after a crash near the Memphis Zoo on Sunday night, May 10, 2015

One person died after a three car crash at the intersection of North Parkway and Evergreen Street on Sunday night.

Police were called to the crash around 9:10 p.m. Investigators found the driver of a 2004 Nissan Maxima was traveling, at a high rate of speed westbound on North Parkway. The driver clipped a 1998 Volvo V70; the Maxima crashed into a tree in the median.

Police say a tire from the Maxima hit a parked 2004 Lexus LS430.

The driver identified as 19-year-old Kendall Lay died on the scene.

Police say no one else was injured in the crash.
