According to police, Chinavare had been detained inside Meijer for shoplifting when she broke away from security guards and fled.Police said she got inside a black pickup truck driven by Peterson, and the vehicle sped off.Store personnel contacted Woodhaven police and a dispatcher informed officers.
“An officer saw the vehicle turning onto the freeway from West Road,” Woodhaven Police Chief Vincent Price said. “He was about 150 yards away.”The patrol vehicle’s lights and siren were activated, according to police.Price said Peterson was driving “recklessly” and eventually turned from Dix-Toledo Road onto Allen Road.By that time, Price said, the officer already had lost sight of the pickup.It was then that Peterson blew a stop sign and crashed into Cutting’s vehicle.It is believed Cutting was on her way home from work to pick up her husband.
Cutting’s car was pushed into at least two other vehicles, according to police
