Kress, TX : A 74-year-old Texas man died in a vehicle crash at Interstate 27 On Thursday, May 19th, 2016
A 74-year-old Texas man died on Friday, May 13 after police say a tractor-trailer driven by a Wilmington man rear-ended his vehicle on Interstate 27 and ejected him, according to officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to police reports, at 5:09 p.m. Kenneth Chase, 30, of Wilmington, was traveling north on I-27 in a 2015 Kenworth truck tractor towing a flatbed trailer when he struck a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Ralph Edwards approximately one
mile north of Kress, Texas, causing Edwards to lose control of his vehicle.
The Suburban was sent off I-27 and rolled several times, finally coming to rest on its roof in a field to the east of the roadway, according to Texas officials.
Edwards was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle, police said, and he was pronounced dead on scene by the Swisher County Justice of the Peace. Chase was not injured.
The cause of the crash is still undetermined, but Texas troopers continue to investigate the accident.
