54-year-old woman died in a two-car crash in Attica

A 54-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon following a two-car crash in Attica, Wyoming County, according to New York State Police.

Terry O'Neill of Varysburg, Wyoming County, was driving south on Route 98 and lost control of her car on a curve and drove into the northbound lane about 2:30 p.m., troopers said. Her car was broadsided by a northbound car driven by Richard M. Rudolph, 88, of Akron, Erie County.

Both cars went off the road and came to rest in a field off the east shoulder of Route 98, just south of Lindsay Road, troopers said. The road was partly covered with snow when the crash occurred.

O'Neill suffered severe head trauma, was taken to the Wyoming County Community Hospital, where she died from her injuries, troopers said.

Rudolph was flown to the Erie County Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. His medical condition was not available. Troopers continue to investigate the fatal crash.
