Sacramento, CA : Woodlander dies in driving accident on County Road 96B, just south of CR17 on Sunday, 12th January, 2020
A 34-year-old Woodland man died in a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon with alcohol believed to be a contributing factor.
The California Highway Patrol reported that driver was in a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup traveling north on County Road 96B, just south of CR17 around 4:34 p.m. when the accident occurred.
The man was identified Monday afternoon as being Jesse Lawrence Vasquez Jr.
According to Officer Curtis Reese, for some still-unknown reason the driver turned his vehicle to the left while traveling northbound on CR96B northwest of Woodland.
The driver lost control of the pickup, drove onto the westside shoulder of the road where the right front end of the vehicle struck a large tree.
It was unclear whether the vehicle overturned, but Reese reported the truck came to rest in an eastward facing direction with major front-end damage.
Vasquez, who was wearing his seatbelt, was trapped in his seat
When emergency officials arrived the man had already died. Yolo County Chief Deputy Coroner Robert LaBrash reported that Vasquez died as a result of blunt force injury to his neck, which appeared to be accidental.
