FISHERS, IN : CNHI Sports Indiana's Hutchens critical after 3-car crash on Monday, 17th December 2018
Terry Hutchens, a longtime sportswriter who covers Indiana University for CNHI Sports Indiana, was hospitalized in critical condition after a three-car crash Monday night.
According to a report from the Fishers Police Department, the accident occurred at 7:11 p.m. on 116th Street at Interstate 69. The 2006 Toyota 4Runner driven by Hutchens struck the rear of a 2014 Ford Escape, pushing it into a 2009 Jeep Wrangler.
All three cars were westbound, approaching the northbound ramp for I-69. The Escape and Wrangler were slowing or stopped in traffic when the accident occurred. Police did not provide an estimate of Hutchens' rate of speed.
The responding police officer found Hutchens slumped over in his car. After not finding a pulse, the officer performed CPR on Hutchens before medical personnel arrived and transported Hutchens to Community Hospital North.
Hutchens, 60, remained unresponsive in the intensive care unit at the hospital early Tuesday morning, according to the accident report.
