A Beverly man was arrested Sunday after police say he led them on a chase from Kresson Road north on Route 73 to Evesham Road before colliding with other vehicles, causing several injuries.

At 12:27 p.m. Sunday, police said, a Voorhees officer tried to stop James C. Fitzpatrick, 46, of Lafayette Road, as he drove his gold Honda Civic. Fitzpatrick drove onto the roadway's shoulder, increasing speed; he then drove through a red light at Route 73 and Evesham Road near the Promenade at Sagemore and, while trying to merge back into traffic, crashed into other vehicles, authorities said. Fitzpatrick's car overturned and he fled on foot before he was caught by the same officer who attempted to stop him.Fitzpatrick allegedly gave police false information. Police say Fitzpatrick was driving with a suspended license and had numerous warrants for his arrest in multiple jurisdictions for eluding law enforcement during high-speed pursuits. He was charged with eluding, resisting by flight, obstruction, providing false information and numerous traffic violations and remanded to Camden County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police said the crash caused some minor injuries and two people were taken to the hospital and released.
