Eugene, OR : Tacoma woman killed in car crash near Willamette Pass on Friday afternoon, April 7, 2017

A 35-year-old Tacoma woman died from injuries Friday afternoon from a car crash near Willamette Pass in Lane County, according to Oregon State Police.

Kami Palmer was driving westbound on Highway 58, about 17 miles east of Oakridge, when she entered the passing lane and lost control of the car for unknown reasons. The car, a gray 2016 Ford Focus, veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

A passenger, Frederick Larry, 41, also of Tacoma, was seriously injured in the accident.

Oregon State Police troopers responded to the accident at about 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Palmer and Larry were taken by ambulance to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.

Speed is considered to have contributed to the accident, authorities said.
