Weston, WV : Charges filed in Morgantown accident on Tuesday, 27th March 2018
Charges have been filed in relation to the pedestrian vehicle accident that critically injured Lewis County native Sara Queen in Morgantown on Tuesday, Feb.
Garrett A. Tederick, 24, of Granville was charged with reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic-control device, and failure to exercise due care by Patrol Officer C.L. Shane of the Morgantown Police Department (MPD).
In the criminal complaint, Shane alleges that footage from a Mountain Line bus stopped on Evansdale Drive shows the traffic light turn green and the pedestrian walk signal seconds before Queen was struck by a white 2018 Ford F250 being driven by Tederick while in the crosswalk.
Queen, a 20-year-old West Virginia University student was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, where she underwent emergency surgery, according to a press release from the MPD at the time of the accident.
An update on Queen’s condition was unavailable at press time. Queen remains in the hospital and continues to show improvements, according to her Aunt Tracey Queen-Young.
A fund has been set up at Citizens Bank for help Queen pay for medical expenses.
