South Gate, CA : Officer, suspect hospitalized following crash during high-speed pursuit in South Gate on Monday, October 13, 2014

A police officer and the suspect he was chasing at high speeds were injured after their vehicles collided in south Los Angeles County. The collision happened at an intersection in South Gate at about 3 a.m. Monday while the officer was pursuing the driver of a stolen gray pickup truck. Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash. Police officials say the officer was briefly trapped in the cruiser and had to be extricated by firefighters. The officer and the driver of the pickup were each hospitalized in stable condition. South Gate is about eight miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
