Bridgeport, CT : Route 8 accident snarls AM commute on Friday, 14th October 2016
An SUV carrying three people lost control and rolled over on southbound Route 8 at the height of the Friday morning rush hour.
Echo Hose Hook and Ladder crews were dispatched at 7:40 a.m and arrived to find a black SUV with New Jersey license plates had rolled over, but landed on its wheels. Three people were were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.
The three were transported to the hospital. State Police say none of the injuries were not life threatening.
The accident near Exit 11, delayed thousands of comuuters on their way to work, school or appointments.
More than an hour after the crash there were still delays of nearly eight miles from Exit 11 to Exit 19 in Ansonia with speeds crawling in the single numbers and teens.
Two lanes were blocked, but shortly after 9 a.m., all were open.
The Shelton Fire Department’s Echo Hose Co. earlier tweeted: “Avoid the highway if possible,” adding that the accident willl require extrication.
