LAPORTE COUNTY, IN : 1 dead after crashing into parked semi-trailer off Indiana Toll Road on Sunday, 22nd September 2024

An Illinois woman is dead after police say she crashed into a parked semi-trailer at a rest area off the Indiana Toll Road on Sunday afternoon.

Indiana State Police were called to the crash around 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the westbound rest area located about seven miles east of the LaPorte exit. That’s where troopers reportedly found a Toyota Rav4 that had driven under a semi-trailer that was parked in the truck lot.

The driver of the Toyota, 73-year-old Marcie Rodriguez, was found dead inside the vehicle.

The driver of the semi was not injured, as police say he was in the sleeper area of the cab at the time of the crash.
