Pineville man dies when motorcycle hits truck in Avoyelles Parish

A 41-year-old Pineville man died early Thursday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer in Avoyelles Parish, according to Louisiana State Police Troop E.Troopers responded to the crash around 4:30 a.m. on La. Highway 107 at Scroggs Road. The crash involved a 2000 International truck driven by Elton McNeal, 58, of Effie, and a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Kevin G. Herron of Pineville.According to police:The motorcycle was headed south on La. 107 when the truck pulled out of a private driveway and entered the road in the path of the motorcycle.McNeal was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. He was charged with failure to yield. Herron was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead.Routine toxicology tests are pending.Troop E, based in Alexandria, has investigated 40 fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in 42 fatalities.
