Russell County, AL : Salem woman dies in one-car crash in Hurtsboro on Thursday, April 21, 2016
A 61-year-old Salem, Ala., has died after the car she was driving left Ala. 51 in Hurtsboro on Thursday, struck a tree and overturned, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said.
Beverly Brown Thompson was pronounced dead of a head injury at 8:44 a.m. Friday at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham, said Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry. She was first taken to East Alabama Medical Center before she was transferred to UAB. No autopsy is planned in the death.
Troopers said Thompson was driving a 2010 Buick Enclave when it left the road at the 95.6 mile marker. She was not using a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
