North Florida, FL : Driver seriously injured after a wreck in White Springs on Wednesday morning, August 3, 2016

A driver was seriously injured after blacking out at the wheel on Wednesday, August 3 at 8:10 a.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

According to FHP, David Shaw Jr., 60, of White Springs, was traveling southbound on SE County Road 137, when he suffered a medical issue and blacked out.

The report states Shaw’s 2011 GMC truck travelled across the northbound lane and continued onto the northbound shoulder. The truck then struck a mailbox and continued off the roadway and struck several wire fences.

The truck travelled across 157th Avenue and struck another fence at 9423 SE 157th Avenue, White Springs, according to FHP.

According to the report, the truck continued through the yard and struck the front porch of a home and then struck a tree. The truck came to a final rest at the area of impact with the tree in the yard of 9423 SE 157th Avenue.

Shaw was treated on scene by Hamilton County EMS and then airlifted to UF Health Shands in Gainesville.
