PORTLAND, OR : 2 killed in crash on Historic Columbia River Hwy on Sunday, 18th October, 2020

Two people died in a crash on the Historic Columbia River Highway Sunday evening, according to authorities.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office described it as a “two-vehicle, double fatality crash.” One of the vehicles involved appeared to be an RV.

In a Monday evening update, authorities identified the two victims as 18-year-old David Collins Jr. and 19-year-old Keausha Mauesby—both were in a Lexus sedan.

The driver of the RV was reportedly uninjured in the crash. That driver is said to be cooperating with investigators.

Authorities closed part of the highway between the Troutdale Bridge and Woodard Road for almost seven hours while a crash investigation was conducted. Based on their preliminary investigation, the sheriff’s office said the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the Lexus crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic. Authorities said speed was believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
