Bloomington, IN : Driver injured in collision with semi on Ind. 37 on Wednesday, 7th September 2016
A head-on collision involving a passenger car and a semi injured a Bloomington man and closed traffic on Ind. 37 in an Interstate 69 construction zone Wednesday morning.
The accident happened about 7:30 a.m. north of Bloomington and about 3 miles south of the Morgan County line.
A Ford passenger car, driven by 29-year-old Ryan R. Dixon, was heading south on Ind. 37 near Bryants Creek Road.
“For unknown reasons, Dixon drove left of center and failed to negotiate the right hand curve in his path,” according to a news release from Indiana State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil.
Dixon’s Ford struck a northbound 2007 International tractor-semitrailer rig head-on. Firefighters and emergency responders freed Dixon from the wreckage. He was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
The driver of the semi, 58-year-old Steven M. Levine, of Bloomington, was not injured, Durnil said.
