Omaha, NE : 1 killed, 1 injured in 2-vehicle, wrong-way crash on Kennedy Freeway on February, Monday 5th 2018

A man was killed and another man was injured early Monday in a wrong-way, two-vehicle crash on southbound Kennedy Freeway.

Omaha police said the crash occurred about 12:35 a.m. just north of the L Street off-ramp.

Police said their investigation found that a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was headed south in the southbound lanes of the freeway when it was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo heading north.

The driver of the Aveo, William Villagran, 27, of Fremont, was declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Lonny Jameson, 47, of Bellevue, who was behind the wheel of the Trailblazer, was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center with minor injuries. He was treated for pain to his chest and back, police said.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers and Nebraska Department of Roads crews assisted at the crash scene.

Interstate 80 eastbound and westbound to southbound Kennedy Freeway and I-480 southbound to Kennedy Freeway were closed until 3:30 a.m. while police investigated the crash.
