Victoria,TX : Motorcyclist suffers leg injury in Navarro crash on July, Friday 21th 2017
A 32-year-old Victoria man was seriously injured Friday when his red Harley-Davidson was struck by a car that failed to yield.
Ryan Scott, who was conscious and breathing, was rushed to DeTar Hospital Navarro by ambulance after injuring his leg, said Officer Phillip Garcia, of the Victoria Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit. Senior Patrol Officer Branden Allen, also of the Traffic Safety Unit, said the man may have broken his femur.
At 2:58 p.m., police were notified of the crash on Sam Houston Drive near the intersection of North Navarro Street, Garcia said. Upon arrival, officers shut down multiple lanes, constricting the busy traffic to a crawl.
Garcia said Victoria resident Doris Mooney, 83, caused the wreck when she failed to yield her southbound slate-colored Lincoln Town Car.
She was making a left turn from North Navarro Street to Sam Houston Drive with the aid of a green light but not a green arrow, Garcia said. Scott was driving in the middle, northbound lane of North Navarro Street.
Mooney was uninjured and given a citation, he said.
No other people were involved in the wreck.
By 3:50 p.m. after tow trucks had cleared the debris and wrecked vehicles, traffic returned to normal.
A DeTar Hospital Navarro official said she could not provide Scott’s condition as the man had not yet been fully processed as of 4:20 p.m.
