A 62-year-old Woodland man died in a four-vehicle crash in Yolo County on Monday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. The man's name hasn't been released yet, pending family notification.About 6:40 a.m., the driver of a Pontiac Grand Prix drifted out of his lane on westbound Highway 16, just south of County Road 93, and side-swiped a big rig that was hauling two trailers, the CHP said. The big rig driver was heading east at the time. The crash caused the big rig to lose control. When the driver tried to regain control of the truck, he was hit by a Honda Accord, police said. The big rig then swerved into another lane, hitting a Ford F-150. The Woodland man was behind the wheel of this truck, and police say he died on impact. The big rig and the F-150 left the north side of the road and sheered a power pole off its base, the CHP said. The big rig overturned, and the Ford came to a stop up against the pole.On the other side of the road, the two remaining cars came to a stop heading south. All three surviving drivers were hospitalized, police said. Two of them suffered moderate injuries, and the other suffered major injuries, police said. All are adults -- two from Woodland and another from Yuba City.Highway 16 remained closed as of just before 1:30 p.m. An alternate route has been established, so traffic isn't congested in the area, police said.
